City of Mableton Resident Resource

In 2022, residents voted to incorporate Mableton as Georgia’s newest city. Our charter, adopted by the Georgia General Assembly, officially established Mableton as a municipal corporation with the power to govern locally and serve residents directly.

What Cityhood Means for You

  • Local Representation: Mableton is led by a Mayor and six City Council members, each elected by district. Together, they make decisions on local ordinances, budgets, and policies that shape our city.
  • City Powers & Services: Under the charter, Mableton has authority over business licensing, building permits, inspections, zoning and planning, code enforcement, parks, and community programs. The city can also levy taxes, manage finances, and create boards and commissions to meet community needs.
  • Municipal Court: The City of Mableton has established its own Municipal Court, with a judge, solicitor, and court clerk hired to serve residents. The court will handle ordinance violations and other municipal matters.
  • Continuity of Services: Many services remain with Cobb County or local providers:
      • Schools remain in the Cobb County School District.
      • Police, fire, and EMS continue under Cobb County (Precinct 2 serves Mableton).
      • Major roads, streetlights, and animal services are handled by Cobb County.
      • Utilities (water, gas, electric, internet) remain with providers.
  • Balanced Government: The Mayor and Council set direction, while day-to-day operations may be overseen by a City Manager if appointed.

Our Commitment
Cityhood means Mableton residents now have a stronger local voice. Our government is dedicated to protecting the health, safety, and quality of life of our community. With your participation, we will grow responsibly, preserve our neighborhoods, and build a city that reflects the values of all who call Mableton home.

Find Your District: Use the official City Boundaries Map / District Map to see if you live within city limits and identify your district.

Mayor & Council: Meet your Mayor and City Council. Each representative has a profile with a photo, contact information, and newsletter sign-up.

Reminder: Schools, libraries, and courts remain under Cobb County’s jurisdiction, but municipal court services are now handled locally by the City of Mableton.
