The Mableton City Manager serves as the chief executive and administrative officer for the City of Mableton and is appointed by the Mayor and Council. The City Manager ensures all laws, ordinances, provisions of the charter, and acts of the council are executed, and the City Manager submits the annual operating and capital budgets to the Council. The City Manager directs and supervises the administration of all departments, offices, and agencies of the City except the appointed positions provided in the Mableton Charter.
William “Bill” Tanks was appointed to the role of City Manager for the City of Mableton, GA on April 1st, 2024. He holds a Master’s Degree of Accounting from Georgia State University, Master’s Degree of Business Administration from Kennesaw University, a Bachelor’s Degree from Morris Brown College and Fire Science Degree from Chattahoochee Technical College. Mr. Tanks considers his role as City Manager a calling to serve the citizens and to achieve the potential and mission of the great City of Mableton.
Mr. Tanks has lived in Cobb County for 32 years with 30 of those years in Mableton. He and his wife, Lee Ann Tanks, currently live in the West Cobb area and own a second home in Mableton. Bill Tanks is the father of four adult children and grandfather of one college student and two elementary students.

Public Hearings on the FY 2026 Proposed Budget will be held June 11, 2025 and June 25, 2025.
The FY 2026 Budget will be considered for adoption at the June 25, 2025 regular Council meeting.
