Office of the Mayor

Elected on April 18th, 2023, Mayor Michael Owens was sworn in as the 1st Mayor of the City of Mableton. 

Mayor Owens is the chief advocate for policy and official spokesperson for the City of Mableton. He is responsible for presiding over all meetings of the City Council as well as being a full voting member of the City Council. 

The Mayor's administrative duties include:

• The power to administer oaths and take affidavits.
• Make appointments of appointed offices, directors, and persons serving on commissions, authorities and boards (with City Council approval). 

Mayor Owens is responsible for signing on behalf of the City all written and approved contracts, ordinances, and other instruments executed by the City which by law are required to be in writing. 

The Mayor shall also fulfill such other executive and administrative duties as the City Council shall establish by ordinance.
