Mayor Michael Owens made history as the first mayor of Mableton since its incorporation. As the City’s top elected official, Mayor Owens leads with a commitment to innovation, transparency, and service to all residents.
Charter-Defined Duties
As established by the City Charter, the Mayor of Mableton:
- Presides over all City Council meetings
- Votes as a full Council member
- Serves as the official spokesperson and chief policy advocate
- Has the authority to administer oaths and take affidavits
- Appoints department directors, board members, and commission members (with Council approval)
- Signs contracts, ordinances, and legal documents on behalf of the City
- Oversees ceremonial documents, including proclamations and letters of recognition
- Carries out other executive and administrative duties as established by ordinance

Mayor Owens represents Mableton on local, statewide, and national levels to advocate for smart policy, technilogical innovation, affordable housing, environmental sustaniaiblity and equitable growth.
