Building Permits and Inspections

The City of Mableton Building and Permitting Division is responsible for administering and enforcing the Georgia State minimum standard code and related procedures for permitting and inspections of buildings within the city. Our staff will help you through the permitting and inspection stages of your residential or commercial project.

The Building staff reviews building plans and inspects all residential and commercial structures built or remodeled within the City of Mableton. It also issues the following permits:

Building permits – for new construction, additions, and remodeling projects
Electrical permits – for installation, repair, or modification of electrical systems
Plumbing permits – for water, sewer, and gas line installations or repairs
Mechanical permits – for HVAC systems, furnaces, and other mechanical equipment
Demolition permits – for removal of existing structures
Sign permits – for installation of commercial or residential signage
Temporary permits – for temporary structures or uses such as tents or trailers

New Construction Permit Process

For all new construction projects within the City of Mableton, applicants are required to complete preliminary approvals before submitting a permit application. The process is as follows:

Step 1 – Cobb County Approvals: Applicants must first apply with the Cobb County Water Department and the Cobb County Fire Department. Approval from both agencies is mandatory before proceeding.

Step 2 – Cloud Permit Application: Once approvals are obtained, applicants may submit their new construction permit application online through the Cloud Permit system for review and processing by the City of Mableton.

Application submission – complete and file your permit application online

Building plan review – staff reviews plan for compliance with Georgia State minimum standard codes

Inspections – projects are inspected throughout construction

Certificate of Occupancy – issued once all requirements are met

Inspections Process

All inspections for residential and commercial building permits, as well as land disturbance permits, must be scheduled online via the Cloud Permit https://us.cloudpermit.com/mableton/login

Scheduling Guidelines:

Requests before 2 PM (Mon–Thu) → scheduled for the next business day
Requests before 11 AM (Fri) → scheduled for the next business day
Requests after these times or on holidays → scheduled for the second business day

General Compliance Requirements (All Projects)

Permits & Plans – All permits and approved plans must be posted on site during construction.

Construction Hours – Work is permitted from 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday–Friday, and 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday. No construction is allowed on Sundays or designated holidays.

Inspections – The General Contractor must schedule all inspections.

Subcontractor Forms – All subcontractor forms must be submitted before the start of construction.

Certificates of Occupancy & Completion – Requests must be submitted 2 business days before issuance.
