In a Monumental Appointment, The City of Mableton Confirms its Inaugural Municipal Court Chief Judge & Prosecutor
Council also approved a nationally recognized platform to track and manage Cases and violations.
MABLETON, GA (Sept. 24, 2025) – The City of Mableton took a significant step in establishing its municipal court, following a unanimous City Council vote Wednesday to appoint the court’s inaugural leadership. The historic appointment was also coupled with the approval of a contract with a nationally recognized case management software provider.
Mayor Michael Owens appointed Mableton’s first chief judge, Judge Che A. Karega II, and confirmed Flynn D. Broady Jr. as the inaugural prosecuting attorney. Broady is a U.S. Army veteran with 26 years of service and extensive prosecutorial experience, including roles as Cobb County District Attorney and Assistant Solicitor General. Judge Karega has served as a Cobb County Magistrate Court Judge since 2021 and brings more than 20 years of litigation experience, including work as a managing partner of his own law firm, a public defender in Atlanta, and a practicing attorney in Detroit.
“This is a defining moment for Mableton,” Mayor Michael Owens said. “By appointing strong leadership and investing in the right tools, we are creating a court system that is fair, transparent and designed to serve every resident with integrity.”
The Council also approved a contract with JusticeONE, a leading municipal court case management software. The system will improve transparency, increase consistency in case management, and strengthen the City’s ability to address code enforcement issues that impact community safety by ensuring violations are tracked accurately, handled promptly, and resolved without unnecessary delays.
“JusticeONE gives us the ability to serve the community more effectively from day one,” said Mallory Minor, municipal court administrator. “Paired with the appointments made today, this ensures our court has the leadership and technology needed to uphold accountability and public trust.”
The establishment of the municipal court strengthens Mableton’s ability to enforce city ordinances, manage cases locally and ensure residents have direct access to justice within their community.
